The concept of this logo design is to display my love for both writing and art. The type of logomark created is a combination mark. I chose American Typewriter Condensed for the typography because I like to write. The colors used in the design are red, black, and white. I wanted the main color to be red because red is the color of ambition, devotion, and determination, all of which have defined a large portion of my life. The balance of the symbol is asymmetrical because when divided in half, one half has text and the other has text and a graphic. The emphasis is on the red text, which reads "art" and the red graphic, which has an artistic design. The logo has unity because it follows a consistent color scheme and is brought together with the red graphic which fills the blank space created by the text.

I chose to do the logo design project on the Bobcat Bistro. The logo is a combination mark because it has both type and paw prints. This was chosen in order to grab attention. My target market is the student body of Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. The concept for the design is to stimulate appetite while promoting school spirit. The design is simply the words "Bobcat Bistro" with paw prints replacing the "o"s and the words are written in blue and white, the school's official colors. The words are highlighted in light orange in order to stimulate appetite while not completely overpowering the school colors. The type is appropriate since it is sans serif and all caps, it has a simple look and is legible whether it is on a large sign or on a small business card. The type is also appropriate because it has an attention-grabbing modern look.

I went to images.google.com and looked up "Piglet coloring pages". I came across a picture of Piglet eating a watermelon. I opened Adobe Illustrator, created a new document, and dragged the picture onto the art board. I embedded the image and clicked "live trace" in order to vectorize the image and resize it without losing resolution. I then clicked object and then expand then holding the shift key, I resized the image to an appropriate size. I then selected the whole image using the selection tool and selected "live paint" on the toolbar, then clicked on make. Using the swatches and changing the tints and shades of pink, I colored the image shown above. I then clicked "file" and "save as" then saved the image as an illustrator file. Then, I clicked "file" and "export" and saved the file again as a jpeg file and posted it onto this blog.

I'm Annie Hunter and I'm entering Junior year at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. I like art and writing and I am an avid reader and watcher of fantasy and science fiction. I enjoy classics, such as Alice in Wonderland, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and the Chronicles of Narnia. I also tend to go back to my childhood favorites such as Winnie the Pooh, Disney Princesses, etc. The course I am taking this year is Visual Communications. The reason why I took this class is because I want to improve my creativity and be able to effectively use it while keeping my original purpose and target audience in mind, whether it would be for business purposes in the future or for a class presentation. I wish to major in business and marketing, and in order to be effective in that field, I will need to be able to make good presentations that will impact my audience and get my message across to them.
